Major Contributions to the University System and to the Librarianship Profession in Nigeria

  1. While on a One-Year Sabbatical Leave to the University of Port Harcourt (April 2010 to March 2011) I developed the Archives Department of the University of Port Harcourt Library.
  2. Still on the above leave, I organized a Book Fair that was the first of its kind since the history of that University. Based on the experience, it has since then become an annual event in the University.
  3. I initiated, sponsored and defended the establishment of the Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLS) programme now approved in RSUST that should have taken off in the 2006 /2007 academic session as approved by Senate on Tuesday, 28th February 2006. Infrastructural logistics delayed the take-off.
  4. On assumption of office as Acting University Librarian in 2003, I developed the Collections Development Policy for the RSUST Library System. This is a major document used in the building up of a balanced library collection. This was lacking since the inception of the RSUST Library System still lacking n most Nigerian University Libraries.
  5. The RSUST Library Guide, which was not in a published form since the inception of the RSUST Library System was produced as I came into office as Acting University Librarian in 2003.
